What are you doing to build your brand socially? Brand awareness is a HOT topic and will help separate you from a crowded landscape.
When strengthening or building your social brand, consider your audience first and understand where they hang out in the world of social. Do they flock to Facebook? Are they Twitter trenders? Are they gaga about Google+? Not sure?
#1 – Survey Your Clients
If you’re not sure about this consider setting up a survey to better understand your audience. Simple surveys can be set up for free on Survey Monkey. You may also want to check your own e-blast platform (Constant Contact, Mail Chimp, Vertical Response) and get the inside scoop on their survey tools.
#2 – Listen to Your Audience
After you’ve surveyed your clients you’ll have a clear understanding where they hang out in the world of social media. The next step is to listen to the questions they ask as they’re making a booking with you. Do many of them ask about packing tips? How about queries about cruise line queues?
Take these great questions and use them as a base for unique content that you’ll create and post socially. This unique content not only answers their questions, it sets you apart as a travel professional with the knowledge to handle any size booking.
#3—Create unique content
Now you get to have some fun and create some unique content to build brand awareness on the social platforms where your clients hang out. This winning combination of being in the right place with the answers to their questions will make you a star.
Facebook content: Let’s say your clients are flocking to Facebook when researching and planning their vacation. How about creating some really short video that answers the top questions your clients are asking.
Video is the new driving force on Facebook! It’s delivering views and shares remarkably better than other post types. Myself and other travel pros have noticed 5-6 times more reach with video posts and ads.
The Secret Tip: The secret is that the video must be uploaded from your hard drive—not another platform. This means your videos must be uploaded direct from your hard drive to Facebook, not from Youtube or another video source.
Twitter trends: If your clients are crazy about Twitter and seeking advice and opinions from their Tweeps, make sure you’re connecting with them on Twitter chats and in conversations using #. If you can insert some related info into a trending # that’s a great way to reach people and answer their travel questions.
Remember to add photos and video to your tweets!
The Secret Tip: searching for conversations on Twitter is easy when you search by one of your top selling destination or activities. Try searching by #your top selling destination, or #your top supplier.
Google+ for go-getters: Hangouts on Google+ are a great way to chat with your clients and record it for future marketing. Simply invite a couple of your top clients who have great questions and answer those questions on a recorded Hangout.
The Secret tip: Video calls can accommodate up to 10 people. You can send messages in a group discussion with up to 150 people.
Get Visual: Creating video, blog posts, infographics, photo quotes and bite-sized chunks of information will answer people’s questions before they even know the question exists.
With all this cool content you’ve created you can easily email a client after speaking to them on the phone or via email. Imagine their delight when they get an email from you with a link to more information about their biggest travel questions. You’ll be the star!
When you create this content in advance you can easily add it to a Twitter conversation, a Facebook message or as a link during a Google Hangout. Infographics are perfect pinnable content that’s so easy to repurpose to your blog or Facebook.
These tips will influence potential new clients and strengthen your brand awareness. Proactively answering questions, developing a professional relationship and being the go-to travel expert will position you at the top of a traveler’s mind when they’re ready to book their next trip. Talk about powerful brand awareness!
