Do you want your clients to be able to find you more easily?
Yes? Then you need to have 2 things; a blog and a Google+ business profile.
If you already have a Google+ business page, then the question becomes…
Are your website, blog and Google+ profile BFF’s?
If not, here’s how to strengthen that friendship and make your business more ‘findable’.
In addition to all the relationship building benefits of being on Google Plus, the greatest feature for many is the SEO benefit. We all know that Google+ is owned by Google and that Google is the largest search engine. It follows that if you want your website to be found in a search, having a Google Plus account is paramount.
Here are some easy tips to strengthen your searchability and findability and gain the influence provided by Google. Don’t miss the video below if you’re still not convinced!
Tip #1 – Links are key to your Story
Take advantage of ALL the opportunities to include links to your website, social sites, Youtube and blog on your Google+ business profile.
When you’re filling in each section on your Google Plus profile, you can add hyperlinks within the text. There’s no limit on the number of links.
The main section on a Google Plus business page is called the ‘Story’. Maximize your exposure by adding links spotlighting what you do and why you’re an expert. It’s storytelling at it’s finest!
It can look like this:

Tip #2 – Social Links are Essential
Including all your active social accounts on your Google Plus profile will help spotlight your company during an organic search. There are a number of pre-determined options as well as options for your blog on your Google Plus business page.
There’s a special box just for your social links. It looks like this:
Remember your Personal Profile counts too!
Tip #3 – Post your Blog to your Google Plus page
“B2B marketers that use blogs receive 67% more leads than those that do not.”
If you’re questioning if you need a blog or not, I’ll bet these stats will help you decide.
“Companies who blog receive 97% more links to their website.”
Each time your newest blog post goes live, create a post on Google+ about it. Make sure your blog “feature image” appears because your post will be seen by public viewers. You can target your posts to reach your ‘Circles’ too.
Your business page can look like this:
Bonus tip: You can also add images, videos and start a poll within Google+
Tip #4 – Create Collections
Consider what your fans are most interested in; cruising, destination honeymoons, exotic travel. Then create ‘Collections’ of your own blogs as well as content from other sources. These collections serve as a showcase to help your clients. Each ‘Collection’ has a unique URL so you can easily send a ‘Collection’ to a client or prospective client.
“Google+ Collections, a new way to group your posts by topic.
Every collection is a focused set of posts on a particular topic, providing an easy way for you to organize all the things you’re into. Each collection can be shared publicly, privately, or with a custom set of people. Once you create your first collection, your profile will display a new tab where other people can find and follow your collections.” Source
They are easy to set up and can look like this:
Bonus tip: Click ‘Create a Collection” and upload a snazzy cover image. (Image size needs to be 1080px wide by 607px tall. Keep in mind that the top and bottom of the image will be hidden until the user clicks the image. This means that you’ll lose 120 pixels at the top and 123 pixels at the bottom.) Then pull the relevant content into each.
