Did you know that 55-64 year olds are the fastest growing age group on Twitter? That’s right, they’ve been joining Twitter in droves and their number have increased by 79% year over year.
Are you actively courting them on Twitter? Here’s some ‘Twinteresting’ reasons to jump on board.
Twitter Marketing Tips
Tip #1 – Draw fans from Facebook to Twitter
EASY! Invite your Facebook fans to join your conversation on Twitter with a quick post on your Facebook page. Writing a short post letting them in on the benefits of following you on Twitter along with a link to your Twitter feed will inspire them to make the leap.
Example: Maybe you say something like this “Want more in-depth cruise tips? Follow me on Twitter (insert the link to your Twitter account).” Don’t forget to add a photo or graphic.
Tip #2 – Create a Facebook Photo Album for your Other Social Accounts
Intermediate! Create a new Facebook Photo album and upload the logos of the other social sites where you have accounts. In the photo description of each social logo you upload, include a description with the benefit of following you on this social site as well as a link to that social site.
Here’s how it looks:
Tip #3 –Add Photos to your Tweets
Photos have a huge impact on the re-tweets and favorites analytics. Make sure to include relevant images that are sized correctly. (Photos can be up to 5MB and 506 pixels wide by 253 pixels tall, with an aspect ratio of 2:1).
If the dimensions fall outside the 2:1 aspect ratio, Twitter crops the image to fit, and the full size can be viewed only by clicking the image.
Twitter has a cool way of cropping these images, according to the dominant visual element. If there’s no dominant visual, Twitter will crop from the top and bottom, leaving the middle of the image as-is.
Remember to do some research on what # are relevant and use them in all of your tweets.
Adding images is EASY. I simply add related images so my tweets look like this:
While adding photos may take a bit of extra work, I believe it pays off in added engagement. Using # will increase your reach and engagement even more.
Adding video direct from your mobile device or from Vine (6 second short-form video) is an awesome way to elevate your tweets to the next level.
Tip #4 – Add Video to your Tweets
Directly adding video from your mobile device to Twitter gives you the opportunity share videos up to 30 seconds in length. You can shoot and edit the video directly in the Twitter platform.
In addition you can upload video from your mobile device’s camera roll. Video that appears in your Twitter feed will need to be tapped to be viewed.
Adding # to each tweet will expand your reach and help potential new clients see your awesome content.
Tip #5 – Join Twitter Chats
Twitter Chats are a ‘twunderful’ way to converse and draw new followers.
- Set up a Twitter chat prior to your next group departure so that people can meet one another
- Join or start a TwitterChat within your niche market or sector
- More about TwitterChats here.
- Invite chat participants to your other social sites by tempting them with tweets that link to relevant, on-topic material.
Growing your Twitter following is easy when you leverage your other social sites to draw people to your Twitter feed. Tap into Twitter for great conversations and transform your marketing.
