Did you know that photos generate 104% more action on Facebook?
Researchers found that colored visuals increase people’s willingness to read a piece of content by 80%.
How do your visuals stack up?
Using your images to tell your story and inspire people to travel can be simple with these tips.
Tip #1 – Size does matter
Use an image editing tool to size and sharpen your images. It’s simple to resize and add text using free tools listed below.
Image sizing is different on each social network. This cheat sheet helps me sort out the details.
Slip-up:
Many people post images that don’t make the best use of the available space on each platform. You may see images that are too small for the space or that the text is too small to be read easily. Keep in mind that more Facebook viewers use a mobile device to read their timeline than a desk top computer.

Easy fix:
Check out PicMonkey and Canva to resize, add text and overlays. Here’s the latest sizing cheat sheet. Creating images with these tools is a simple way to enhance your social sites, blog posts, e-blasts and website.
Tip #2 – Carousel Posts & Ads
Use Carousel posts to enhance your story telling. This new style of Facebook post is available on Pages and you’ll find the option in the post composition box.

This feature allows you to add up to five images and a link. If your future plans include advertising or boosting this post, keep your text to within 20% of the total image space.
Bonus Tip:
What an awesome way to showcase an upcoming group tour and link to your website sign-up page. Are you planning to promote a new cruise itinerary or destination? Embrace this option and focus on different aspect of the cruise or destination with each image.
Tip #3 – Video is HOT!
How about stringing together a couple of your still images to create a video? Here’s how to create a video using some free tools.
You can also create a Slideshow using the tools available on Facebook. See screenshot in Tip #2 to get started. Accelerate your engagement with this tool and begin by uploading 3-7 photos and creating a video of 5-15 seconds. This feature will create video-like motion without sound.
Tip #4 – Showcase your Travel Expertise
See the video below for tips.
Tip #5 – Image Selection
Use only images that you have the rights to use. I’ve heard too many horror stories of people using images that they don’t own or have permission to use.
Slip-up: Many people simply go to Google Images and find a photo. Remember these photos may have license agreements and usage restrictions attached to them. Avoid being in violation by purchasing images from a reliable source or using a reliable source for free images.
Easy fix: Purchase your images from a reliable source. Here are some options:
As a travel pro I’ll bet you have a stockpile of your own images. Consider using them in your social posts, blog, website and other marketing.
There are a number of free image sites that provide royalty-free images as well.
Wouldn’t you LOVE to boost your brand awareness and break into a new level of social marketing? Focus on your visual marketing and you’ll light up your social presence.
