Facebook Notes is a newly updated feature on Facebook that allows users to create extended posts in an appealing fashion. Unlike a classic status update, Notes give bloggers an imaginative range of freedom and creativity.
What’s new on Facebook Notes?
So, why is this feature back on user’s radar? Because blogging is awesome for your business, website SEO and the recent changes look amazing! The first noticeable change is the cover image. What was once a rather drab post akin to a status update now appears as a professionally crafted, enticing image.
Check out the difference:
The most prominent changes include:
- The title: it now appears in a larger, more eye catching size and font.
- Word count: posts are no longer restricted to a set word count, they may go on ad infinitum or be short and sweet.
- Visuals: graphics and videos may now be embedded, resized and captioned within the post.
- Formatting: Notes now allows users to format the post into headings, bullet-points, quotes and captions. This ability allows posts to be displayed in a classic blog format.
- Also, the previously mentioned cover image now displays beautifully.

This is the blank canvas for a new blog post. Use this template to add the cover image, title, body text and additional visuals.
Using a properly sized graphic will insure that the cover image displays correctly. Facebook recommends 1200 pixels for full width images. If the desired image needs to be resized, PicMonkey or Canva are excellent photo editing tools. Simply upload the image to one of these sites and use the basic editing tools to resize the image.
Once the images has been saved in the proper dimensions, click the grey box at the top of the template to upload it to the Note. This step is shown below:
To change the format of the text, hover over the lines icon which appears to the left of the curser. This icon will lead to the previously mentioned formatting options. Highlighting specific text is another way to access formatting options. Here’s how it looks:
When you are ready to post, click publish on the bottom right hand side of the template. Once published, the Note will appear in your timeline where it can be ‘liked’, commented on and tagged.
An added bonus of Notes is the ability to edit the note after it has been posted. To do this, just click Edit Note at the top right hand corner of your published Note.
